Border Patrol Arrests Dangerous Gang Member in California
EL CENTRO, CALIF—U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a member of the "Surenos 13 Gang" today during patrol operations.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested Jose Ismael Herrera-Rodriguez, a 26-year-old Mexican national who crossed into the United States illegally nine miles west of the Calexico West Port of Entry. Border Patrol agents later determined that the subject is a member of the "Surenos 13 Gang" a criminal organization out of Santa Barbara, Calif. Upon further investigation, agents discovered Herrera has a criminal history and had been previously removed from the United States.
Herrera is in Border Patrol custody and facing removal proceedings.
