Border Patrol Arrests 8, Seize 368 Pounds of Marijuana

YUMA, Ariz. — Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested eight smugglers and seized 368 pounds of marijuana yesterday.

Wellton Station agents patrolling near Gila Bend located the smugglers walking toward Interstate 8 with large bundle-shaped backpacks. The marijuana weighed a combined 368 pounds; worth an estimated $184,000.

The smugglers and marijuana were processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
