Falfurrias, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Checkpoint on U.S. Highway 281 seized more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana Tuesday.
The seizure occurred during an inspection as a man attempted to drive a tractor-trailer through the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint. A Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the possible presence of illicit contraband. Upon further inspection, agents discovered 116 bundles of marijuana hidden within a load of mangoes.
The marijuana is valued at close to $1 million.
The tractor-trailer, narcotics and driver were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for investigation.
