Border Patrol agents and pilots from the Yuma Branch of Air and Marine Operations arrested six marijuana backpackers on Monday, December 21.

YUMA, Ariz. – Air and Marine Operations pilots from Yuma Branch guided Wellton Station Border Patrol agents to the location of six illegal aliens attempting to smuggle 275 pounds of marijuana through the Sonoran Desert on Dec. 21.The smugglers were spotted after they had illegally entered through the Cabeza Prieta Wildlife Refuge. Agents place the marijuana’s valued at approximately $137,500.

The subjects and drugs will be processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
