Border Patrol Agents Encounter Large Group in the Rio Grande Valley

WESLACO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Weslaco station apprehended a group of 54 illegal aliens near Hidalgo, Texas.

This afternoon, agents patrolling along the Rio Grande encountered a large group of illegal aliens consisting of 19 family units (38 total subjects), 14 unaccompanied children and two adults. The group is comprised of men, women and children from the country of Guatemala.

Agents requested assistance to transport the subjects to be processed accordingly.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
