Border Patrol Agents Discover Meth In Driver’s Brassiere

the driver’s brassiere. 

SALTON CITY, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents working at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint arrested a woman suspected of smuggling narcotics this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m., when a woman driving a silver 2006 Hyundai Elantra and her three passengers approached the checkpoint.  A Border Patrol K-9 detection team alerted to the driver’s side of the vehicle in the primary inspection lane.  Agents directed the vehicle to enter the secondary inspection area for further investigation.

While in secondary inspection, Border Patrol agents asked the driver and passengers to exit the vehicle.  Agents performed safety pat-downs on all four of occupants to search for anything that could be used as a weapon.  During one of these pat-downs, agents discovered a plastic wrapped package hidden in the driver’s brassiere.

the driver’s purse.

The package contents were tested with a narcotics test kit, which yielded a positive result for the characteristics of methamphetamine.  Agents also discovered used syringes and a vape pen containing a gold color oil on another occupant.  The occupant claimed the oil to be tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).  The K-9 team proceeded to inspect the vehicle and discovered a large amount of cash inside the driver’s purse.

The total weight of the methamphetamine discovered was approximately .66 pounds with an estimated value of $1,485.  The total amount of cash discovered was $6,420.

The driver and passengers, all United States citizens, the narcotics, the money and vehicle were turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
