EL PASO, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a pair of illegal aliens entering the United States illegally.

On Feb. 12, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Ysleta Border Patrol Station observed a group of people, climbing over the Border Wall, attempting to enter the United States.  Agents responded to the area and apprehended the group of two, illegally present in the United States.

The agents placed the subjects under arrest and transported them to the Ysleta Border Patrol station for further processing.

At the station, record checks revealed one of the subjects, a 52-year-old male from Peru, was convicted of “Rape of a Minor” and had served nine years in prison in his native country. The subject will be processed accordingly.

In a separate event, Lordsburg Border Patrol agents near Playas, New Mexico encountered a criminal gang member.

Two subjects were found in the area shortly after they entered the United States illegally. During processing at the station, one of the subjects told the agents he was a member of the “Paisa” gang and still an active member.  Routine records checks corroborated the subject’s statement of his affiliation.  The 40-year-old Mexican national has an extensive criminal record.  Subject will be processed accordingly.

This is a reminder of the types of individuals that are attempting to enter into our country, putting both our neighborhoods and communities at risk.  The men and women of the United States Border Patrol remain committed to combating the illegal transport of these drugs while remaining vigilant and steadfast in the performance of their duties.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection welcomes assistance from the community. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the U.S. Border Patrol while remaining anonymous by calling 1-800-635-2509 toll-free.

It is important to note that an arrest or criminal complaint is merely a charge and should not be considered evidence of guilt. Subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
