SAN DIEGO — U.S. Border Patrol agents and the San Diego Maritime Task Force intercepted 15 people on Sunday who were involved in a smuggling event into the U.S. by sailboat.
At approximately 6:30 p.m., agents intercepted the boat when it docked at Harbor Island. An immigration inspection revealed that six people on the sail boat had entered the U.S. illegally. Agents arrested the illegal aliens and nine other individuals believed to be involved in the smuggling event.
The group was transported to a local Border Patrol station for processing, booked into the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego, and face multiple Federal charges. The sail boat was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
