TUCSON, Ariz. – United States Border Patrol agents assigned to the Nogales Station arrested Jose Rivera-Fuentes, a previously deported 40-year-old Mexican national, for illegally crossing the border in Nogales Saturday night.

During processing, a records check revealed Rivera’s 1998 conviction in Orlando, Florida for sexually fondling a minor.

Rivera is now in federal custody pending prosecution for criminal immigration violations.

All individuals apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.

CBP welcomes assistance from the community. Citizens can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free. All calls will be answered and remain anonymous.
