Del RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector arrested two previously convicted sex offenders, March 23-24.
“Agents within Del Rio Sector work tirelessly to maintain the security of our nation’s borders and protect the American public," said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon, Jr. "Due to our agents’ tireless work ethic, two more violent predators have been stopped from doing further damage in our communities.”
On March 23, agents of the Uvalde Station, conducting freight train inspections, encountered and arrested a 40-year-old male citizen of Mexico. During processing, records checks revealed that he had previously been convicted of sexual battery in St. Lucie County, Florida in 2009. The individual was subsequently removed from the United States in 2018.
On the following day, Border Patrol agents of the Comstock Station conducting line watch operations arrested a 33-year-old male citizen of Mexico. During processing, records checks revealed he had been convicted in 2011 of enticing a child, in Houston. The individual was subsequently removed from the United States in 2018.
The two face charges of 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years of incarceration.
Over the last 30 days, Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended a total of six sex offenders.
