DETROIT— With the boating season underway and summer activities of cross border commuters in full bloom, U.S. Customs & Border Protection recommends applying for a NEXUS card for quicker processing at Michigan land borders.
NEXUS is a CBP program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk international travelers upon arrival in the United States. NEXUS also benefits CBP by allowing them to focus efforts on potentially higher risk travelers, thereby facilitating the movement of trusted travelers in a more efficient and effective manner.
NEXUS card holders enjoy benefits non card holders do not such as dedicated lanes, pleasure boat reporting privileges, NEXUS kiosks at airports when entering Canada and access to Global Entry kiosks when entering the U.S. and at Preclearance locations.
"Travelers who cross the border frequently are encouraged to apply for a NEXUS card," said Christopher Perry, Director of Field Operations. "NEXUS card holders enjoy multiple program benefits at both land borders and airports."
