Arizona Man Arrested for Attempted Marijuana Smuggling at Naco Port

Naco, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug-smuggling attempt when they seized more than 46 pounds of marijuana concealed in the spare tire of the vehicle that the man was driving.

On February 4 at 10 a.m. CBP officers were screening travelers when they became suspicious of a Ford F-150 being driven by a 45-year-old man from Eloy, Ariz. Using high-tech tools, CBP officers searched the man's vehicle and discovered that the spare tire was loaded with packages of marijuana. The officers seized more than 46 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $104,000.
