Release Date
Tue, 09/11/2018

EL PASO, TEXAS - As part of the 2018 El Paso Fire Department "Medal Day Ceremony" on September 7 , the El Paso Branch of CBP Air and Marine Operations (AMO) was honored for their assistance in conducting rescue efforts in the Franklin Mountains.

El Paso AMO Director Rodolfo "Rudy" Maldonado was asked to provide the keynote address for this year's ceremony.

"It's an honor for me, and the AMO Agents to be recognized in El Paso in this rescue effort," DAO Rudy Maldonado said. "Sometimes the public doesn't get a good sense of who we are and what we do, so this helps reaffirm our role as a community law enforcement partner helping to save lives along the southwest border", he added.

The recognition was received for a rescue event in the Franklin mountains where AMO agents and the "El Paso Combined Search & Rescue (COMSAR) Team" assisted in a mountain rescue in the Franklins for a young woman who was injured by a falling rock.

Each year, the El Paso Fire Department recognizes "the extraordinary dedication and achievements of its members and the community during Medal Day." At this year's ceremony, the 2018 Firefighter of the Year was named, in addition to other agencies and organizations who were honored for their actions.
