Alleged rape victim among 46 immigrants rescued from a stash house in Rio Grande Valley

EDINBURG, Texas – Border Patrol agents responded to a stash house in Pharr containing 46 illegal immigrants Sunday morning. In the group was a young woman who stated she was raped. One of the smugglers, a Mexican national, has been arrested.

Pharr Police Department received a 911 call from a man stating that he and several other subjects were being held against their will. Pharr Police officers were able to locate the residence on Robin Avenue where they found 47 people inside. One of the immigrants, a female El Salvadoran national, stated that she was raped by the two smugglers who recorded the act on an iPad tablet.

The immigrants apprehended are from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Honduras. All subjects were transported to the McAllen Border Patrol Station and processed accordingly. The Mexican national has been referred to the RGV Prosecutions Unit.
