SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. — U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a man near San Clemente who had liquid methamphetamine inside disguised plastic containers in his car on Wednesday morning.
The event began Dec. 11, at approximately 10:20 a.m., when agents initiated a vehicle stop on a Nissan sedan traveling northbound on I-5. Once stopped, agents questioned the driver and determined he was a Mexican national with a valid B1/B2 Visitor Visa.
The man granted permission to agents to search the vehicle. During the search, agents noticed several suspicious looking transmission fluid and coolant containers in the trunk of his car.
After testing the contents of the containers, agents determined that they contained liquid methamphetamine. The meth weighed 34.61 pounds and has an estimated street value of $65,759.
The driver, a 47-year-old, was arrested. He and the meth were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
