Rio Grande City, Texas - CBP's U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande City station seized more than 800 pounds of marijuana Monday.
U.S. Border Patrol agents on patrol south of Rio Grande City, Texas, observed a white Ford F-150 pickup travel north from the river at a high rate of speed. The agents attempted to approach the vehicle, which then abruptly turned south toward the Rio Grande.
The driver bailed out of the vehicle near the river and was quickly apprehended, after which agents discovered 35 bundles of marijuana worth a total of $648,800. The vehicle was seized and the subject and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
