“Once again our officers’ astute sense of awareness and attention to detail has enabled us to make this interception of hard narcotics,” said Port Director Andres Guerra, Hidalgo/ Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry. “The ability to detect anomalies and unusual human behavior is how officers throughout CBP are able to deter smuggling attempts and assist in the fight against drugs.”

The seizure occurred on Sep. 10 at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge after CBP officers referred a gray 2009 Nissan Altima for further inspection. During the secondary inspection and with the use of non-intrusive imaging technology (NII), officers removed and seized 15 packages of alleged cocaine weighing 36 pounds (16.34 kgs).

CBP OFO seized the Nissan, arrested the Reynosa resident and then turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
