Air Interdiction Agents pilot airplanes, helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems to interdict inbound threats to the U.S. and investigate dangerous criminal networks.
Typical Assignments- Conducting airborne surveillance to detect and support the interdiction of the unlawful movement of people, illegal narcotics, and conveyances across the U.S. border
- Supporting search and rescue activities and other agencies relating to natural, humanitarian, environmental or other disasters
- Conducting security missions for events designated as National Special Security Events or given Special Event Assessment Ratings
Basic Eligibility
Eligible applicants must:- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Have a valid driver's license
- Be referred for selection prior to your 40th birthday (waiver for veterans’ preference eligible or those that have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement position)
- Have resided in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years (Residency Requirement Exceptions)
- Be eligible to carry a firearm
- Be willing to travel
- Pass the application process

Marine Interdiction Agents command vessels, conduct maritime patrols, surveillance, high-speed vessel pursuits, and investigations to prevent acts of terrorism and the smuggling of contraband into or out of the United States.
Typical Assignments- Conducting maritime patrols and interdictions of illegal drugs and undocumented non-citizen smuggling in coastal waters and the Great Lakes
- Working with other agencies to conduct joint investigations related to border security in the maritime environment, employing multiple investigative techniques and capabilities
- Supporting search and rescue activities and other agencies relating to natural, humanitarian, environmental or other disasters

Detection Enforcement Officers conduct aviation and maritime surveillance operations to detect, identify, track and coordinate the interdiction of threats approaching or operating within the borders of the United States.
Typical Assignments- Operating leading-edge radar surveillance technology to interpret and analyze data in tracking suspect aircraft and/or vessels
- Generating leads, gather evidence, and develop intelligence on potential criminal activity
- Working with criminal investigators on active investigations
- Performing queries utilizing data from various database systems to determine actions to take against suspect person, aircraft or vessel

Aviation Enforcement Agents conduct airborne law enforcement operations including anti-terrorism detection, interdiction and apprehension to protect the country from attacks and unlawful entry.
Typical Assignments- Operating sophisticated airborne sensors to intercept, apprehend, or disrupt threats in the land, sea, and air domains as they move toward or across the borders of the U.S.
- Working in coordination with state, local and other federal law enforcement partners to maximize enforcement and surveillance efforts
- Executing warrants and seizing evidentiary items
- Responding to law enforcement incidents as a tactical team member
