What has CBP done to minimize the negative environmental effects of the border fence at Smugglers Gulch?

What has CBP done to minimize the negative environmental effects of the border fence at Smugglers Gulch?

The Border Infrastructure System (BIS) project at Smugglers Gulch has been constructed to standard Caltrans erosion standards. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, CBPs lead program manager on all fence projects, prepared a robust storm water pollution prevention plan, which includes the installation of erosion and sediment control measures. CBP has also hydroseeded the hillsides with native grasses and shrubs, rather than with non-native species that would threaten the existing indigenous plants in the area.
