Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Revised Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) Addressing Proposed Improvements of Interstate 8 and Highway 80 Checkpoints, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announces that a Final Environmental Assessment and Revised Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed improvements and maintenance of two U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) checkpoints located on Interstate 8 (I-8) and Old Highway 80 (Highway 80) east of Alpine in San Diego County, California are now available for public review.

The Revised FONSI was signed December 3, 2014 and changes the preferred alternative to the No Lane Expansion Alternative. The Final EA for the project contains a full description and analysis of impacts from the No Lane Expansion Alternative.

Based on the Final EA and the mitigation measures to be implemented, the project would not have a significant adverse effect on the environment and further analysis is not required. For further information please contact CBPEnvironmentalProgram@cbp.dhs.gov.
