U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announces the availability of a Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and associated Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) which provides for improvement of access roads in the Pozo Verde Mountains along the U.S./Mexico international border west of Sasabe, Arizona.

The access roads addressed in the proposed action consist of Presumido Canyon Road and Presumido Pass Road in the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector. The project includes improvement and reconstruction activities in order to deter and prevent illegal cross border activity and improve agent safety.

On the basis of the findings of the EA, and after careful review of the potential environmental impacts of implementing the proposal, CBP finds there would be no significant impact on the quality of the human or natural environment, either individually or cumulatively. Therefore, there is no requirement to develop an Environmental Impact Statement.

CBP is committed to implementing best management practices identified in the EA and supporting documents.  For further information please contact CBPEnvironmentalProgram@cbp.dhs.gov.
