Congressional Staffer Academy

CBP's Congressional Staffer Academy is temporarily suspended. Please check back for updates.

CBP’s success in fulfilling its broad and complex role in national security depends on the men and women of CBP, who stand guard at our national borders each and every day. To help Congressional staff understand CBP’s complex mission, OCA hosts two Congressional Staffer Academy sessions each year. Before the COVID-19 pandemic emerged in 2020, this academy was held alternately at the Northern U.S. border and the Southern U.S. border. Each session is unique, but is designed to provide a “hands-on” experience, in that participants can see for themselves and – to a limited degree – experience for themselves what it is like to work on the front lines of national security at our borders.

For additional information about the academy, contact Jerome “Jay” Bishop.
