Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Agents Interdict Meth Smuggling Attempt

FALFURRIAS, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped a methamphetamine shipment at the immigration checkpoint.

On Friday afternoon, agents working at the Falfurrias Immigration Checkpoint referred a Ford Fusion to the secondary inspection area after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the vehicle. During the investigation, agents located two containers filled with crystal methamphetamine. The narcotics weighed over 120 pounds and have an estimated value over $3.9M. Agents arrested the driver and turned the case over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Across the Southwest Border, Border Patrol has experienced an increase in the amount of methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine seized between the ports of entry when compared to last fiscal year.
