DOUGLAS, Ariz. - A 39-year-old female Mexican national was arrested Saturday for attempting to smuggle marijuana through the Port of Douglas.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers selected a Chevrolet SUV, driven by Rosario Garcia-Torrez, for further inspection. A CBP narcotics detection canine helped officers locate more than 214 pounds of marijuana within four of the truck’s tires, as well as underneath the hood.
The drugs, valued at an estimated $107,000, and vehicle were seized. Garcia was referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
