Man Used False Name, Fraudulent Credit Card to Rent the Boat
Wellesley Island, N.Y. —U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Wellesley Island, N.Y. Border Patrol Station arrested an Israeli citizen making an illegal entry into the United States Monday.
At approximately 3 p.m., Border Patrol agents encountered a male walking in Wellesley Island State Park, which is in the St. Lawrence River on the U.S. side of the border with Canada.
Agents identified the suspect as a 28-year-old Israeli national, who admitted that he had entered the U.S. by boat and that he had not been inspected by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer.
Also during that interview, Border Patrol agents determined that the suspect had rented the boat in Canada under a false name with a fraudulent credit card.
The suspect was transported to the Wellesley Island Border Patrol Station for processing. Records checks revealed that the suspect had previously visited the U.S., and that his visa had been revoked in February 2014.
The suspect was processed for removal and will appear before an Immigration Judge, who will determine his eligibility to remain in the United States.
Because the man was not criminally charged, the Border Patrol is prohibited from releasing his identity.
