OCOTILLO, Calif. – Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro station apprehended a dangerous gang member attempting to make an illegal entry into the United States.
Border Patrol agents arrested a 33-year-old Mexican national as he entered the United States illegally from Mexico, approximately 22 miles west of downtown Calexico.
The man, later identified as Napier Valdez-Brito, was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station where it was revealed he was an active member of the “Sureno” criminal street gang out of Escondido. This gang member has an extensive criminal and immigration history and was ordered removed from the U.S. on February 2, 2000. He was also arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and has numerous parole violations.
Valdez is in Border Patrol custody and will be criminally prosecuted for re-entry of alien. This is the fourteenth gang member arrested this year by El Centro Sector Border Patrol.
