Trusted Traveler Enrollment Centers Located Minnesota, North Dakota Offer Global Entry Enrollment

Release Date:
April 5, 2012

Pembina, N.D. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection has expanded the Global Entry program to more airports across the United States. Enrollment in this trusted traveler program can be completed locally at enrollment centers in Pembina, International Falls and Warroad, Minn. These enrollment centers offer access to three different Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative compliant trusted traveler programs: Global Entry, NEXUS, and FAST. WHTI requires U.S. and Canadian citizens entering the United States from Canada, the Caribbean, Bermuda, or Mexico by air, land or sea to have a WHTI-compliant document.

Each of these programs offers different benefits to pre-approved, low-risk international travelers:

GLOBAL ENTRY
Fee: $100 application fee via credit card or electronic bank transfer through the CBP Global Online Enrollment Center.
Duration: Membership expires five years after the member's next birthday.
How it works: At airports, program participants proceed to Global Entry kiosks, present their machine-readable passport or U.S. permanent resident card, place their fingertips on the scanner for fingerprint verification, and make a customs declaration. The kiosk issues the traveler a transaction receipt and directs the traveler to baggage claim and the exit.
Global Entry Card: Members will also receive a radio frequency identification-enabled Global Entry card, which is a WHTI-compliant document, for entry into the United States by land or sea. Additionally, these cards will be valid for use at SENTRI and NEXUS lanes coming into the United States.

NEXUS
Fee: $50 U.S. that can be paid by direct debit from a U.S. bank account or credit card via the Global Online Enrollment System or $50 Canadian that can be paid by check, credit card, or money order to the Canada Border Services Agency for the processing of an application submitted by regular mail.
Duration: Membership expires five years after the member's next birthday.
How it works: Members are issued an RFID-enabled NEXUS card, which is a WHTI-compliant document, for entry into the United States by land or sea. NEXUS cards can be used for expedited passage at NEXUS-dedicated lanes, airport kiosks, and by calling a marine telephone reporting center to report their arrival into the U.S. or Canada. NEXUS members are also enrolled in Global Entry at no additional charge if they have a valid passport.

FAST
Fee: $50 U.S. or Canadian can be paid by credit card via the Global Online Enrollment System or $50 Canadian that can be paid by check, credit card, or money order to the Canada Border Services Agency for the processing of an application submitted by regular mail.
Duration: Membership expires five years after the member's next birthday.
How it works: Members are issued an RFID-enabled FAST card. FAST cards are WHTI-compliant documents for entry into the United States by land or sea. The FAST program allows expedited processing for pre-approved, low-risk commercial carriers at land ports of entry.
